Making a portfolio in WP7

We were excited by the new Windows Phone platform and after the Android experience we had to see for ourselves what the Microsoft’s platform is bringing into the mobile world. To simplify this task we have focused on one objective: play around with WP7 framework and make a mobile portfolio. Here is the result.

Verdict: WP7 is awesome and the interesting thing is that Microsoft have completely changed how we interact with our phone. User experience feels very natural and inspiring at the same time. As we are comfortable working with Silverlight we have found WP7 development to be a pretty straightforward process. Development environment, IntelliSense, Silverlight controls, documentation… as usual with some minor changes – emulator opens instead of a web browser plus some extra settings. Looking back and comparing to Android constant problem solving work-around process the WP7 is like poetry to work with. Fast, responsive, intuitive, smart and clean design.

GORENJE – No more waste

We recently teamed up with the Gorenje Av agency to produce a web game for their Scandinavian version of the web site – www.gorenje.no. Gorenje is one of the world leaders in domestic kitchen and home appliances. Within the agency brief our role was designing the overall game experience, UI, design and production of a flash game. With our passion for interaction and game development this was a project we enjoyed producing.

The No more waste flash game promotes Gorenje refrigerator that has space for everything and goes along with their Scandinavian ad campaign.

Two Android phone apps – Time-Lapse and Knight game

As the mobile market gets bigger and bigger phone applications are already considered as a given. We were tempted many times to catch ongoing Android trends and finally we decided to create two Android applications for M:Android competition held by Mobitel d.d. (biggest Slovenian Mobile provider).

Time-Lapse Android application – FotoFilm
Everyone loves photography: amateurs, semi-professional or professional photographers. New smartphones now have considerably good camera abilities and some have the ability to take a photos up to 8M pixels with a lot of internal storage space.

Every photographer is keen to try something unusual especially when your outdoor phone is always on hand. Not long ago we had to edit in our PC to get effects of time-lapse and some of the time-lapse created by professional photographers are just breathtaking. Take a look at some of the best time-lapse captures: Go For Launch and Icelandic Volcano, Eyjafjallajökull.

What is Time-laps?
Time-lapse photography is a cinematography technique whereby each film frame is captured at a rate much slower than it will be played back. When replayed at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. Time-lapse photography can be considered to be the opposite of high speed photography.
